Here’s a story about one of our high school students; we’ll call him Alex.
Alex was about to begin his senior year in high school. But he was quite anxious because he had not learned much during his 11th grade, pandemic online math course. And he knew that would be a problem, because he wanted to pursue a technical career that required a college degree in math or science. So, after a few initial sessions with MMTC, he decided to spend his summer break working to learn what he’d missed out on.
Through an individualized program tailored to Alex’s interests and needs, MMTC filled in his math gaps using real-world situations. He learned how to balance a checkbook, compute tax, tips, and discounts, scale up a pancake recipe at summer camp, as well as measure and graph changes in temperature in the desert.
Senior year math was a success! And, today his college future is secure!
